About The Position

Stv is seeking a Civil Rail Engineering Specialist in one of our Regional offices. Description As a Civil / Rail Engineering Specialist you will be responsible for supporting/ leading the design of railway infrastructure s . Your role involves ensuring that rail projects comply with design criteria and standards , meet quality standards, and adhere to project timelines and budgets. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient and sustainable rail solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering .
  • 3-7 years of experience in railway engineering, with a focus on design and design services during construction
  • 3 + year p roficiency in engineering software such as MicroStatio n, InR ail , Open Rail , AutoCAD, Civil 3D .
  • K nowledge of railway standards and regulations, including AREMA , CPUC, AAR, and FRA requirements as well as agency standards such as Metrolink, LA Metro , UPRR, BNSF .
  • P roblem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and project goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Design Development: Utilize engineering principles and software tools to develop comprehensive railway track design s including designs for bridges, tunnels, stations, and associated structures.
  • Design Support During Construction: Respond to information requests from Prime C ontractors during the construction phase , review and approval of all shop plans and construction drawings received from the Prime Contractor .
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Comply with QA/QC procedures to monitor the quality of documents , workmanship, and construction processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documentation: Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation in accordance with organizational standards and client requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in railway engineering, and incorporate innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.
  • Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a supportive and productive work environment
  • Regulatory Compliance: Lead and provide guidance to ensure that projects comply with local, national, and international regulations, codes, and standards related to safety, accessibility, and environmental impact.
  • Risk Assessment : Help identify potential risks and challenges associated with railway projects and develop mitigation strategies to address them effectively.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Assist project managers in monitoring project budgets and schedules, track expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings and schedule optimization
