Position Summary:

The Civil Lead Journeyman is a senior civil construction professional responsible for leading crews while actively performing journeyman-level civil work. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The Civil Lead Journeyman acts as a key link between field crews and site supervision.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading crews on civil or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and safety practices
• Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions
• Valid driver’s license (commercial license an asset)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications
• High attention to safety, quality, and productivity
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Physical ability to perform hands-on civil construction work

Responsibilities

• Perform journeyman-level civil construction work including excavation, grading, concrete, utilities, and site development
• Lead and coordinate daily activities of journeymen, apprentices, operators, and laborers
• Read, interpret, and execute work from civil drawings, plans, and specifications
• Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure quality workmanship
• Enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements on site
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve construction and layout issues
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material needs with supervision
• Mentor, train, and support apprentices and junior crew members
• Conduct site inspections and ensure work meets project and company standards
• Communicate progress, issues, and scheduling needs to the Foreman or Superintendent
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
