About The Position

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets.  Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad.

A Civil Journeyman is a skilled construction professional responsible for performing advanced-level civil construction work, including site preparation, grading, concrete work, utilities installation, and infrastructure development. This position works under limited supervision and may lead apprentices or laborers on job sites.

Requirements

• Journeyman-level experience in civil construction (typically 3–5+ years)
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Knowledge of grading, trenching, and concrete placement
• Experience with underground utility installation
• Strong understanding of safety procedures
• Ability to operate small equipment (skid steer, compactor, etc.)
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license (CDL may be preferred)
• Strong knowledge of concrete formwork systems (wood, steel, modular forms)
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and layout equipment
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Knowledge of OSHA and job-site safety requirements
• Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Perform site preparation, excavation, grading, and compaction
• Install underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain)
• Set forms and place/finish concrete (curbs, sidewalks, foundations)
• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and grade stakes
• Operate hand and power tools safely
• Work with survey crews to ensure proper elevations and alignment
• Install drainage systems and erosion control measures
• Follow OSHA and company safety regulations
• Lead and mentor apprentices or crew members when assigned
• Maintain tools, equipment, and job site cleanliness
• Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
