The Charles L. Brown Science & Engineering Library in Clark Hall is seeking undergraduate student workers for spring semester 2026 and moving forward. The Circulation Desk and its staff create the first impression library users have with Brown Library (P.O. Box 400109, Charlottesville, VA 22903). The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks related to Circulation services for library patrons at assigned service points and occasionally work on special projects. Punctuality, attention to detail, and dependability are the essential components of this position. Duties include providing customer service for library patrons; generally focused on charging, discharging, and renewing library materials. You must be comfortable with data entry, the use of standard office software programs and working within established guidelines and policies. You must possess a strong attention to detail, the ability to learn the Library of Congress call number system, the ability to work independently, and be proactive. This is a customer/visitor service job. Your resume should highlight any customer/visitor service experience. FWSA (i.e., Work-Study) eligibility is preferred and will be looked at first. Work Study employment is effective from 08/26/25 - 05/08/26. The pay rate for this position is $14.53/hour. This position will remain open for applications for up to 30 days from the posting date.
