About The Position

About the Library Annex The Library Annex is a state-of-the-art high-density facility with a climate-controlled environment of 50-55⁰ F and 30-35% relative humidity. It consists of five modules built between 1978 and 2004 and provides a clean and secure home for library materials in various formats. Access to materials is provided through electronic and physical document delivery with a 24-hour turnaround time, or through an on-site reading room equipped with wireless access, computers, a printer, copiers, and microform readers. Currently, the Library Annex serves primarily as a storage facility for lesser-used materials from the on-campus collections of CUL and carries significant responsibilities for housing and preserving the Rare and Manuscript Collections print heritage materials. The Library Annex is committed to providing adequate protection and security for this historic material. The Opportunity Under the general supervision of the Access Services Coordinator the Circulation/Collection Management Assistant will: Provide public services duties to support the Library, ILL, and Special Collections requests for library materials from with the Library Annex collection and CU Library system as a whole. Prepare newly received materials by sizing, accessioning/verifying, and shelving into the Inventory Control System (Caiasoft Software). Routinely deliver/pickup materials from the Library’s units for fulfillment of requests and for Steady State materials. Routinely work in the Shipping Room of Uris Library receiving incoming UPS, DHL, FedEx, and USPS mail and packages. Opening and delivering throughout Olin Library. Processing outgoing packages for UPS and FedEx materials. Responsible for reporting any building maintenance items, safety hazards, and security issues to the Library Administrator. Hours and Location The Circulation/Collection Management Assistant works, on-site at the Library Annex, located on Bookbank Drive (take Route 366 to Palm Rd, near the Cornell apple orchard). Core work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 7:40AM to 4:00PM.

Requirements

  • High school education and/or up to 2 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail, maintaining a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced facility.
  • Must be able to operate and pass the forklift test; training provided on-site.
  • Valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive a delivery truck.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70-80 lbs.
  • Ability/comfort for heights; high bay warehouses, equivalent of 3 stories; order pickers are governed at 30 feet
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Nice To Haves

  • Warehouse experience preferred.
  • Computer experience preferred.
