About The Position

The Church Partnerships Advisor plays a vital role in growing and deepening Unbound’s partnerships with churches and other faith-based groups, outside of the Catholic religion. This position focuses on developing relationships with pastors and Faith-based leaders, supporting their engagement with Unbound’s mission, and implementing effective outreach strategies that lead to lasting, mission-driven partnerships. The role involves growing and stewarding a portfolio of Faith-based partners and prospects, establishing and executing relationship advancement plans, and contributing to the overall Faith-based engagement strategy. The Advisor serves as a relational bridge between Unbound and Christian churches and other Faith-based communities, inspiring them to join in meaningful partnership and impact. This role is located in Kansas City. Unbound is an international nonprofit based in Kansas City, Kansas, and founded by lay Catholics grounded in the Gospel call to put the needs of the marginalized and vulnerable first. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in theology, communications. Non-profit management or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct hands-on experience in Faith-based management, partnership development, fundraising, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with pastors, church leaders, and ministry organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident and engaging public speaker, comfortable in church or ministry environments.
  • Creative, strategic thinker with strong follow-through on implementation.
  • Organized and data-minded, with experience using CRM tools or tracking engagement metrics.
  • Ability to travel (approximately 30%) for church visits, appeals, events, and conferences, many of which require the this role to work on the weekends of events.

  • Experience speaking or presenting in Faith-based settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and manage a portfolio of Christian and Faith-based partners and prospects, building strong, trust-based relationships with pastors, ministry staff, different church groups (e.g. women, men and youth groups) and other Faith-based networks.
  • Develop and implement individualized engagement plans for each partner using a moves management approach to guide churches from initial contact to deeper involvement and ongoing support.
  • Identify and cultivate new Faith-based partnerships across denominations and regions, focusing on strategic opportunities for growth.
  • Steward relationships through consistent follow-up, personalized communication, and excellent service.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in CRM systems, tracking activity, progress, and outcomes.
  • Influence and execution Unbound’s Faith-based engagement strategies, helping to bring partnership models such as sponsorship Sundays, mission weekends, and congregation-wide campaigns to life.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to adapt messaging, materials, and tools for Faith audiences.
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve outreach, storytelling, and partner engagement resources.
  • Support fundraising and engagement goals through relationship-based partnership growth.
  • Represent Unbound, either alone or with Unbound leadership, at church services, meetings, conferences, and ministry gatherings, presenting Unbound’s mission and opportunities for partnership.
  • Deliver presentations, sermons, or talks as needed to inspire engagement and communicate impact or secure opportunities for other Unbound leadership to do the same.
  • Support partner events, both in-person and virtual, ensuring positive and meaningful experiences.
  • Work closely with supervisors and peers to align efforts and share best practices in Faith-based engagement.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on portfolio activity, goals, and insights.
  • Offer feedback from partners to inform and strengthen Unbound’s overall Faith-based engagement strategy.
