About The Position

We are currently recruiting for Residential Youth Support Workers to join our Busselton team. These are hands-on Permanent or Casual positions supporting the young people living in LWB's residential care homes. You will be working directly with children and young people, supporting the day to day running the house with domestic duties and various activities in line with the young people’s care plans. Experience and understanding of trauma and de-escalating behaviours is required. The program prioritises the safety and well-being of children and young people, offering a predictable, home-like environment that is culturally safe and responsive. You must live in Busselton or surrounds to progress for this role. Please see our adverts for similar positions in other locations in the south west. Shift example: Weekdays: 2pm - 8pm Weekends: 10am - 8pm

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification level - Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or working towards relevant qualification
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concern
  • Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
  • Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
  • A current Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011)
  • A current Drivers Licence

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

  • Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
  • Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
  • Support the young person’s interests
  • Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
  • Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
  • Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundry
  • Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
  • Medication administration (when required)
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping
