About The Position

Children Ministries Director Part-Time, Salaried $22,000-$27,000 15-25 hours a week, Limited Office Hours About First Church: First Church has a mission to Leave a Spiritual Legacy for the Next Generation of Christ Followers. Average weekend worship of 250 in-person, 125 online, and stream our service to a nearby community. We offer three unique worship services each weekend and strive to meet people wherever they are spiritually and help them develop a relationship with Jesus Christ. Check us out: www.firstchurchnp.com Overall Responsibility: Leading a team of volunteers by developing, organizing, and supervising the Children’s Ministry (Pre-5 th grades) to help the next generation become disciples of Jesus Christ. The goal is to lead our leaders in growing a healthy, relational, and outward focused ministry. This person will oversee our Wednesday night ministry and special events including Vacation Bible School and Trunk or Treat.

Requirements

  • Understanding of children's Ministry culture, principles, trends, and programs.
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills.
  • Ability to be comfortable with and effectively speak to small, medium, and large groups of all ages.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to identify, recruit, develop, and engage leaders passionate in making disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • Skill in working with individuals to achieve a “teamwork” work environment.
  • Must have a clear call to children's ministry, and articulate relationship with Christ.
  • Weekly Staff Meetings and 4-8 office hours a week required.
  • Must be willing to join Church.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research, recommend, and implement a Bible-based curriculum in consultation with a ministry team.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and develop leaders and volunteers to serve in Student and Children’s Ministries.
  • Develop and coordinate ministries that incorporate small groups, large groups, and service projects for children and their families.
  • Coordinate with staff and other ministry leaders to promote and advocate for children to attend and participate in worship.
  • Plan, promote, recruit volunteers, and help coordinate a safe, engaging, and community-friendly Vacation Bible School each summer.
  • Monitor and ensure all volunteers have a current Safe Gatherings Certificate on file.
  • Coordinate with other staff in promotion of events.
  • Consistent presence and leadership in weekly Children's Ministry (Wednesday evenings) and Weekend Worship.
  • Assist in worship through leading Children's Time, and other worship elements such as announcements, prayer, etc.
