About The Position

Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Childbirth Class Educator who will embrace their mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. They are nationally recognized for Cardiac, OB, Cancer, Stroke, Orthopedic, Rehabilitation, and Mental Health services. The Childbirth Class Educator will teach childbirth education classes according to established guidelines, pursue professional development, and utilize adult learning processes in planning and teaching.

Requirements

  • Certified as a Childbirth Educator (e.g., through ICCE or LCCE)

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Maryland RN License preferred
  • Background in Maternal Child Nursing or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teaches Childbirth education classes according to established guidelines.
  • Pursues on an active basis their own professional development.
  • Utilizes the adult learning process in planning and teaching childbirth education classes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Utilizes principles of learning, and synthesizes course information in a clear, concise manner for presentation.
  • Sets up, operates and stores audiovisual equipment and teaching aids according to office procedures.
  • Administers questionnaires, evaluations, and any other forms necessary for office records.
  • Teaches at least three Childbirth & Infant Care series annually, as scheduled through the program coordinator.
  • Is familiar with the other Maternal Child Education classes and promotes these programs when appropriate.
  • Identifies own learning needs.
  • Stay up to date with Maternal and Child Health topics.
  • Apply program evaluation feedback from surveys to adapt and improve classes as needed.
  • Regular communication with the Community Health Education Coordinator
  • Attendance at Annual Instructor meetings
  • Communication with registrants before, during and after class
