About The Position

Join our Child Life team in bringing comfort, play, and joy to our youngest patients! Child Life Specialist Support Volunteers assist in creating a positive and healing environment for children and families in the hospital. This is our hands-on role working closely with our certified Child Life Specialist to support patients and staff on the pediatric units.

Requirements

  • Warm, compassionate, and comfortable interacting with children of all ages.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to follow infection control procedures and hospital policies.
  • Previous experience with children preferred.
  • Must complete hospital volunteer orientation and health requirements.
  • Volunteers commit to one 4-hour shift per week, for a minimum of 6 months.

  • Previous experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize toys and play materials on pediatric units.
  • Restock and organize toys, supplies, and activity areas.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate play and activities.
  • Provide comfort and companionship to patients, including holding infants during respiratory season.
  • Assist with special events and holiday celebrations for pediatric patients.
  • Support our Child Life Specialist with daily tasks and unit needs.
