About The Position

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is responsible for the smooth and efficient operations and integration of the Orlando Health Strategic Plan with Sebastian River Hospital Operations. The COO provides management oversight for the development of high quality and cost-effective programs and services within the Hospital, and exercises management responsibility over the hospital operations to ensure that the needs of patient, physicians and team members are addressed appropriately. This will be done either directly or indirectly through delegation to other management staff.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years prior management experience in a Hospital setting, to include at least three (3) years as a Hospital Administrator.
  • Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skills.
  • Well-developed marketing, organizational development and business skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes President’s responsibilities in President’s absence.
  • Initiates, develops and implements the strategic planning process for the Hospital.
  • Participates in the development and oversight of the Hospital budget.
  • Develops new business strategies to enhance market share and overall performance.
  • Prepares reports, performs analysis and review of services provided to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and appropriateness in the designed departments.
  • Coordinates with Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, and Medical Staff members to ensure necessary input and evaluation of services, as well as strategic initiatives.
  • Negotiates other contracts as needed to achieve strategy operational objectives.
  • Ensures structure of high performing management team with clear accountabilities in all areas within Hospital operations. Hires and retains the right people in the right jobs.
  • Ensures that departments are properly organized, managed, supervised and staffed.
  • Ensures culture of customer services throughout operations.
  • Ensures that operations conform to local, state and federal governmental regulations.
  • Coordinates operations as appropriate with other Orlando Health executives and administrators.
  • Establishes and maintains an open communication process throughout the corporation that reaches patients, visitors, families and team members, such that each feel they are treated special each time they have an encounter at the Hospital.
  • Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation, and research which could impact strategy or operations in healthcare.
