About The Position

Outerknown is seeking a strategic, growth-minded Chief Marketing Officer to blend purpose, exceptional product, and elevated storytelling to inspire and grow a global audience around the Outerknown brand. This leader will own Outerknown’s voice, shape long-term marketing strategy, and drive full-funnel marketing performance across every consumer touchpoint. This role will define how consumers experience Outerknown across product, digital, retail, culture, and community, elevating the brand’s legacy while unlocking new pathways for sustainable global growth.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of senior brand and/or marketing leadership in apparel, outdoor, lifestyle, or similar consumer categories.
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams, building premium lifestyle brands, and driving measurable growth at scale.
  • Deep expertise in digital marketing with a data-driven mindset and the ability to balance creativity with analytical rigor.
  • Strong creative instincts with a refined aesthetic and a deep understanding of cultural relevance.
  • Thrives in entrepreneurial, fast-paced environments and collaborates effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Values-driven leader passionate about sustainability, responsible product development, and community-centered brand building.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Outerknown’s brand vision, positioning, and narrative across all channels.
  • Build and execute a multi-year strategic marketing plan aligned with business goals and future growth ambitions.
  • Shape the next phase of Outerknown as a purpose-driven, sustainability-led lifestyle brand rooted in community, responsibility, quality, and shared values.
  • Expand global brand awareness and deepen emotional connection with existing and new audiences.
  • Build strategies that expand the women’s business and drive category growth across apparel and accessories.
  • Deliver an elevated and consistent Outerknown brand experience across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Oversee brand marketing and GTM functions including campaign planning, seasonal marketing calendars, product launch strategies, and cross-channel storytelling.
  • Own full-funnel performance and marketing resource allocation across awareness, engagement, conversion, and loyalty phases.
  • Strengthen brand affinity and awareness through consumer insights, data-driven decision making, and contemporary marketing tactics.
  • Lead the planning, strategy, and integration of seasonal campaigns, collaborating closely with the Creative Director.
  • Inform strategic creative direction and ensure all campaigns ladder to Outerknown’s brand vision, sustainability commitments, and commercial objectives.
  • Execute best-in-class brand and product storytelling through compelling content across photo, video, and digital assets.
  • Build and grow a community platform that brings people into the lifestyle and worldview Outerknown represents.
  • Own social media strategy, community engagement, influencer/ambassador programs, and earned media.
  • Elevate brand experience activations and collaborations that deepen connection with the customer and expand audience reach.
  • Deliver world-class marketing support for retail partners and key accounts, enhancing in-store storytelling and sell-through.
  • Lead, inspire, and unify high-performing teams across brand, digital, performance marketing, social, community, and partnerships.
  • Manage brand and performance budgets while balancing long-term brand equity building with financial targets.
  • Establish processes, clarity, and accountability that elevate execution across all teams.
  • Champion a culture rooted in creativity, innovation, accountability, customer obsession, and purpose.
