Position Overview: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic partner to the CEO and the Board, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company. In a dynamic, fast-paced private equity-backed energy environment, the CFO will lead the development of financial strategies, ensure rigorous financial management, optimize capital structure, and drive value creation. This role is critical in shaping the company’s growth trajectory, executing on M&A opportunities, managing external financial relationships, and ensuring financial discipline aligned with the firm’s long-term energy and sustainability objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 years as CFO or senior finance executive.
  • Proven experience in a private equity-backed business, ideally in the energy, power, infrastructure, or industrials sector.
  • Demonstrated track record of working directly with PE firms, including board-level presentations and value creation initiatives.
  • Strong command of capital markets, financing structures, and M&A execution.
  • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning capabilities.
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Skilled in capital allocation, risk assessment, and financial turnaround strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the energy value chain—generation, distribution, storage, or commercial.
  • Familiarity with energy market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability trends.
  • Strong understanding of the PE lifecycle—deal structuring, value creation, exit planning.
  • Comfort operating in lean, performance-driven, high-accountability environments.
  • Adept at managing board relationships, banking relationships, and operational KPIs.
  • Exceptional executive presence with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
  • Experience building and scaling teams in high-growth environments.
  • Familiarity with CRM(Salesforce), ERP, BI tools (e.g. NetSuite, Power BI).
  • Champion for process automation and technology-driven finance transformation.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of project finance and energy infrastructure investment models is a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting the commercial team for energy transition projects, renewables, and Infrastructure as a service, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, driving financial planning, strategy, and execution.
  • Develop and implement long-range strategic financial plans in alignment with PE partner objectives and operational realities.
  • Lead capital structure optimization and debt/equity management strategies in collaboration with the PE sponsor.
  • Act as a thought partner to the CEO, Board, and PE stakeholders to guide business model evolution and value creation.
  • Oversee all aspects of finance including accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, treasury, tax, audit, and risk management.
  • Implement and manage KPIs to monitor business performance and operational efficiency.
  • Drive automation, standardization, and digital transformation across financial processes.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles with precision and rigor.
  • Partner closely with the PE firm to execute post-investment value creation plans.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting packages, board presentations, and financial communications.
  • Manage lender and covenant compliance; support refinancing or recapitalization efforts as needed.
  • Provide leadership in preparing for future exit strategies (IPO, sale, secondary buyout).
  • Lead financial due diligence, modeling, and integration for acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and scenario analyses for new markets or investments.
  • Support commercial and operational teams in evaluating the ROI of growth initiatives.
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team capable of supporting a rapidly scaling enterprise.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and regulatory compliance.
