About The Position

For over 35 years, Heritage Landscapes has partnered with clients, landscape architects, and general contractors to create and care for custom outdoor living spaces. Serving the Bay area including Marin, Sonoma, Napa and San Francisco counties, we are dedicated to client relations and environmental stewardship. We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Chief Estimator- Landscape Construction to lead our pre-construction and estimating efforts for landscape construction and plant installation projects. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical precision with strong communication and leadership skills. As Chief Estimator- Landscape Construction, you will develop accurate project take-offs and proposals, manage pre-construction budgets, and serve as the key liaison between clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Valid California driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • Proven experience estimating high-end residential construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of markups, margins, and construction financials.
  • Familiarity with AIA formats and schedule of values invoicing.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools such as Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read blueprints/specifications to develop take-offs and prepare bids.
  • Experience with take-off software and developing digital/electronic take-offs.
  • Working knowledge of construction materials, tools, and methods.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written & digital), organization, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
  • A collaborative mindset with a positive, productive and motivated attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Aspire Business Management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans and specifications; lead estimating efforts for new projects.
  • Attend pre-construction and bid meetings as the point person.
  • Provide accurate take-offs and build estimates for incoming projects.
  • Prepare and manage pre-construction budgets.
  • Submit RFIs, plan discrepancies, and material submittals.
  • Price and procure materials, vendor services, and subcontractors, ensuring pricing is accurate and competitive.
  • Estimate and propose change orders for projects in production.
  • Provide weekly updates on bids, prospects, and project statuses.
  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients, vendors, and internal partners.
  • Conduct site visits to verify estimates and scopes are followed in production.
  • Compare estimated vs. actual costs and materials to maintain project budgets.
  • Provide feedback on best practices and field installation methods.
  • Participate in final site inspections and punch lists to ensure project excellence.
  • Help improve estimating systems and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
