About The Position

As a nonprofit neurodevelopmental center, we have provided comprehensive services for children with special needs and their families since 1962. Kindering is dedicated to maintaining a highly trained, licensed and certified team of professionals. Current services include comprehensive developmental assessments; physical, occupational, speech, language, and infant mental health therapy; special education; family counseling; nutrition and feeding therapy; childcare consultation; parenting education; and family resource coordination. Purpose Within the CHERISH program, provide therapeutic in-home social work and psychosocial services to foster children aged 3-5, throughout King County, who are vulnerable because of abuse and/or neglect. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or related mental health field
  • Valid WA state professional license (e.g. LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, Associate Independent Clinical SW, etc.)
  • Experience and training in infant mental health, psychotherapy, and attachment theory
  • Experience and training in systems (i.e. foster care/child welfare)
  • A fundamental understanding of current issues and challenges facing individuals from marginalized communities, including a commitment to racial equity and social justice
  • Pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint check
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, reflective capacity, and ability to collaborate well
  • Flexibility in scheduling appointments with clients, including at least one “evening” home visit (i.e. 5-6pm) a week
  • A self-starter who is very organized in order to meet the demands of a highly autonomous position
  • Demonstrated skill in word processing and familiarity with MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Possess valid Washington State driver’s license and valid automobile insurance
  • Have access to a dependable personal vehicle
  • Be able to lift 40 pounds (average three-year-old)
  • Pass tuberculosis test
  • Kindering requires all employees to be vaccinated or apply and be approved for a sincerely held religious belief or medical exemption

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical intakes and mental health assessments for children aged 3-5 who are child welfare involved (i.e. in foster care or an in-home dependency) or in out-of-home care.
  • Assess each child’s developmental level of social-emotional functioning; design and implement individual treatment plans; prepare progress reports; review medical and other collateral reports; and maintain accurate records of contact for each child.
  • Provide in-home child-parent psychotherapy and other relational interventions for caregiver/child dyads around issues of attachment, adjustment, and emotional development.
  • Provide systems consultation for parents, foster parents, and relative caregivers.
  • Collaborate and consult with providers of other developmental therapies, school/ daycare staff, and child welfare teams.
  • Participate in program planning and program dissemination including presentations, articles, referrals, inter-agency collaborations, etc.
  • Participate in clinical consultation and reflective supervision as required.
