About The Position

10x is looking for an outstanding intern to join the Chemical Engineering team in the Chemistry & Development Organization. The candidate will work with a senior member of the ChemE team to develop, optimize, and commercialize new chemistries and analytical methods required to produce 10x reagents and consumables. The position requires a technical understanding of chemical engineering or chemistry at a bachelor's level. Previous experience as an intern in a similar field is a plus. Individuals applying for this position must be self-starters, strategic thinkers, action driven, flexible in changing direction and methods, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities, succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and provide immediate contribution.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated laboratory skills and experience.
  • Ability to integrate a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to design meaningful experiments and in depth analysis of results.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization, with a compelling technology, and taking products and processes to the next level.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as an intern in a similar field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, optimization, validation, and implementation of chemistry-based production processes from R&D into Manufacturing.
  • Support the integration of these chemistries into various microarray or fluidic handling devices.
  • Help in understanding the interplay between chemistry, microfluidics, production processes, and molecular biology to assist in identifying the root cause of product deviations, troubleshoot them, and identify solutions.
  • Conduct experiments to understand reaction mechanisms and interactions, process variability, and failure modes.
  • Leverage engineering principles to identify critical parameters/variables to optimize or control chemical systems and processes.
  • Utilize statistical analysis to interpret data.
  • Communicate and present results clearly and contribute data for making critical design decisions through accurate record of experimental details, laboratory documentation, and presentations or reports.
