About The Position

Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, located in Bakersfield, California, is an acute psychiatric and behavioral 90 bed facility situated on 8.8 acres. We offer inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults needing mental/behavioral health, chemical dependency; and co-occurring disorders treatment through our medically supervised detoxification. Summary: Provides complex screening, assessment, crisis intervention, intake and treatment planning, individual and group substance use disorder counseling, and support services to clients. Assists with overseeing screening and assessing of the substance use disorder, psychosocial and environmental status of clients, coordinating and monitoring referral of clients to clinical and other resources and services. Serves as team lead in developing counseling programs and interventions as well as related training for staff. Uses independent judgment to staff cases with subordinate staff. Requirements

Must have High School Diploma or GED.
Two years of experience as a Chemical Dependency counselor or closely related field. Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) REQUIRED.

Nice To Haves

Preferred AA degree in Chemical Dependency.
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) preferred.
