About The Position

Ave Maria University is seeking a passionate and faith-driven part-time Cheerleading Coach to lead and develop our cheerleading program. The coach will be responsible for fostering a competitive, spirited, and Christ-centered environment that supports student-athletes in their personal, athletic, and spiritual growth. This position requires an individual who embodies the mission of Ave Maria University — to form joyful disciples through a commitment to faith, reason, and service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; prior coaching or cheerleading experience preferred.
• Strong commitment to the Catholic mission of Ave Maria University and the formation of student-athletes in faith and virtue.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and game days as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and supervise all aspects of the AMU Cheerleading program for both football and basketball seasons, including practices, performances, and game-day responsibilities.
• Promote a team culture rooted in Ave Maria’s Catholic identity, encouraging athletes to grow in virtue, teamwork, and joy through sport.
• Instruct and mentor team members in cheerleading techniques, safety, conditioning, and performance quality.
• Recruit and retain student-athletes aligned with the University’s mission and values.
• Manage scheduling, budgeting, travel logistics, and equipment needs in coordination with the Intramural and Club Sports Coordinator.
• Serve as a positive ambassador for AMU Athletics at campus and community events, fostering school spirit and community involvement.
• Ensure all practices and performances adhere to safety standards and university policies.
