About The Position

INCREASED PAY RATES - TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM - GENEROUS PTO PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is looking for a dedicated and hard-working Registered Nurse (RN) to work full-time in the medical department at the Carroll County Detention Center located in Westminster, MD, and other correctional facilities in the area. This is a full-time position with negotiable shifts for the afternoon/evening and an on-call requirement every other weekend. In this role, the Nurse Supervisor will monitor and evaluate nursing care in accordance with PrimeCare Medical's (PCM) philosophy, goals, and objectives. This position will directly report to the Medical Director or other mid-level practitioner. Available Shift: Full-Time Days (8:00 am to 4:30 pm with start and end time flexibility`) with rotating on-call weekends This position provides a 2 week orientation period where you will be training on the job and shadowing with the nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Licensed to work as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland
  • Clinical decision-making ability is required.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to function independently and demonstrate clinical competency
  • Ability to gain the trust of patients and build a working relationship
  • The Nurse Supervisor is a fast-paced position, and as such we must have someone who has the ability to multi-task and has a good grasp of patient assessment skills.

  • Experience working in corrections is a plus

Responsibilities

  • The Nurse Supervisor will primarily be responsible for managing and evaluating nursing care delivery in accordance with PCM policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that nursing practice complies with established nursing standards.
  • Function as HSA as needed and act as a liaison between nursing staff, PCM Administration, and facility administrator.
  • Report to and meet with HSA and Medical Director on a regular basis
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with facility staff, unit staff, contracted providers, outside service providers, and Corporate Staff.
  • Is tactful and diplomatic at all times while functioning as a role model for nursing staff.
  • Make use of established Corporate and Facility policies and procedures in decision-making. Must use factual data and sound independent judgment in meeting the responsibilities and performing the duties of this position.
  • Assign and direct nursing staff. Develop and monitor work schedules and provide coverage with appropriate staff to maintain adequate staffing levels.
  • Counsel and discipline employees who violate established policies/procedures of PCM or the facility. Each phase of the disciplinary process must be approved by the HSA prior to implementation.
  • Conduct sick calls for inmates/patients and provide treatment for selected minor illnesses and injuries defined by a written protocol approved by PCM Medical Director. Refer all cases not covered by written protocol and those cases that do not respond to treatment to an appropriate PCM Physician
  • Perform all aspects of general and specialized nursing care principles and techniques in the care and treatment of the ill inmate/patient within the facility.
  • Administer - immunizations, tuberculin testing, basic; and advanced first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, visual acuity, and telebinocular examinations, and oxygen when indicated.
  • Administer treatment prescribed by verbal or written orders from a PCM Physician.
  • Assist physicians during the performance of physical examinations and physician visits.
  • Perform initial inmate/patient physical assessment (intake screening) according to established written protocol.
