Requirements

  • For those not board certified at time of hire or job transfer, ecclesiastical endorsement is required. Board Certification from the APC, NACC, CASC, or the NAJC at time of hire or job transfer (or obtained within two years of hire or job transfer; risking termination if not obtained within timeframe) is required.
  • Master's degree or enrolled in a Master's degree program in Theology, Spirituality, Social Work, Divinity, Philosophy, Servant Leadership, Pastoral Studies, Human Behavior, or a related field from an accredited school is required.
  • 3 units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE, CPEI, or CPSP is required only if not board-certified.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 units of accredited CPE are preferred.
  • OR 3-5 years of healthcare experience as a chaplain is preferred.
  • Rotating weekends and on-call as needed
  • A minimum of 3 accredited CPE units is required at the time of hire

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized religious and spiritual care and counsel to patients, families, and associates, honoring diverse spiritual beliefs and cultures to alleviate emotional and spiritual distress.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, holistic patient care that addresses spiritual needs.
  • Cultivate spiritual and religious connections with patients, families, and associates through regular visits and compassionate communication.
  • Offer pastoral care, including sacraments, rituals, blessings, and liturgies, to the local ministry and community.
  • Mentor and guide Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students and fellows, developing the next generation of spiritual caregivers.
