About The Position

Provides direct spiritual care to patients and families to ease, resolve, or reconcile spiritual pain and distress precipitated by a life-threatening illness.

Requirements

  • M.Div. (Master of Divinity) or Master’s Degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry or Pastoral Counseling
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of one full unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or to complete CPE training in the first 18 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software. Database software and general knowledge of e-mail is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

  • Participates in bereavement events as needed.
  • Assesses crisis situations.
  • Follows standard operating procedures.

  • Documents required information.
  • Uses correct terminology.
  • Conforms to required style and format.
  • Submits documentation on time.
  • Complies with legal guidelines.
  • Plans patients’ memorial/funeral service with family.
  • Officiates at patients’ memorial/funeral service as requested.
  • Participates in bereavement events as needed.
  • Demonstrates awareness of cross-cultural issues.
  • Provides culturally sensitive care.
  • Utilizes translation services when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development.
  • Conducts age appropriate assessment.
  • Provides age appropriate care.
  • Uses appropriate communication techniques.
  • Recognizes age -specific responses to treatment.
  • Involves patient and family.
  • Identifies and prioritizes learning needs.
  • Provides clear explanation and instructions.
  • Assesses level of understanding.
  • Documents patient education.
  • Follows all infection control policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
