This is an exciting opportunity to bring your cardiovascular expertise to a team committed to excellence. You will play a vital role in establishing a strong foundation for a program that will make a lasting impact, one heart at a time. At this time, our team is seeking candidates with prior CVOR or OR experience. This is an exciting new program for Lake Forest Hospital! Candidates hired would train at a few other Northwestern Medicine locations. The Certified Surgical Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The Certified Surgical Tech facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire
  • CPR – Basic Life Support
  • prior CVOR or OR experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
  • Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.
