About The Position

This position will provide intensive one-on-one and group academic advising to students in the CeO program to help assigned advisees navigate the success pathway from summer orientation to graduation. The CeO Advisor engages students in decision making processes and promotes appropriate and responsible choices on academic matters such as course selection, degree requirements, academic support, career exploration, and high impact experiences. The CeO Advisor maintains appropriate confidentiality, updates student advising records, and contributes to the development and delivery of academic advising related events and programs. They work to ensure students receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services in support of promoting student success, retention, and graduation and strives to create belonging and community. This position is full-time, 100% FTE. Expected start date for this position is May 17, 2026. Ongoing/Renewable This position is eligible for: partial remote work. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Requirements

  • At least two years of college/university student services, advising and/or administrative experience
  • Previous work experience with TRIO programs (Upward Bound, SSS) or programs that serve similar student populations
  • Experience in high impact college student programming or similar group, focused on wellbeing, personal, and/or professional development
  • Experience and demonstrated success in relationship-building and advising students from an array of backgrounds including those who are first generation college students and/or students from limited income, and/or students with disabilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal communication skills that support an ability to work effectively with campus-wide student support units, academic support staff, and external stakeholders
  • Masters Degree Required

  • Ability to effectively advise in course and major selection, financial literacy, professional development and/or transitional issues
  • Experience with university policies and procedures, electronic advising tools, and campus/community resources
  • Technical skills in software to include record databases, presentation, appointment scheduling, spreadsheets and word processing, web forms and related digital media tools
  • Demonstrated commitment to helping scholars achieve personal and academic excellence

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the campus-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college
  • Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers
  • Leads in the development and coordination of CeO Student Wellness Leader initiative
  • Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies
  • Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum
  • Engages in the planning and implementation of student services, operational needs, and programming which may include CeO recruitment & admissions, strategic communication initiatives, supervising student workers, or advising a CeO student group
  • Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures
  • Proactively engages students as needed
  • Serves as a main point of contact for students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources
