About The Position

Centralized Scheduler Grundy County Memorial Hospital Shift: Monday-Friday; R otates Weekly- 7:30a-4p, 7:45a-4:15p, and 8a-4:30p The Scheduler is responsible for scheduling, canceling, and confirming patient’s appointments for services throughout the Grundy County Memorial Hospital system and visiting specialty providers by direct or indirect contact with our customers. Creates accurate and thorough registration for each patient visit. Discusses patient liability before time of service as defined by the patient’s insurance plan. Identifies those patients who may need financial assistance. Interacts in a customer focused and compassionate manner to ensure patient’s needs are met. Why UnityPoint Health? Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to two (2) years of college
  • Previous medical office experience.
  • Previous experience with an electronic health record or medical office software

Responsibilities

  • Provides front-line scheduling, registration, and check-in support to ensure efficient patient flow and on-time services.
  • Schedules, cancels, confirms, and coordinates appointments for hospital services and visiting specialty clinics using the EHR system.
  • Accurately registers patient services, verifies demographics, orders, referrals, and insurance eligibility to support timely billing.
  • Obtains prior authorizations and prepares pre-service estimates, clearly communicating financial responsibility to patients.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to internal and external customer inquiries, delivering a positive patient experience.
  • Collaborates closely with Revenue Cycle and ancillary departments to support coordinated care and operational efficiency.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory and privacy standards including HIPAA, PHI, ABN, EMTALA, and MSPQ requirements.
  • Manages patient work queues and supports collection goals through timely, accurate account processing.
  • Assists with onboarding and training of new team members and adapts to coverage needs as required.
