About The Position

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Centralized Funding Specialist to join our team! This position plays a critical role in supporting the commercial lending process by reviewing loan documentation, boarding and funding in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Supports First Merchants vision by delivering high performing, knowledgeable, and responsive service to our internal commercial teams and external bank partners. Foster strong relationships through consistent communication, and operational coordination. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability as Centralized Funding evolves. In this role you will: Review commercial loan documentation operational mechanics to determine compatibility with the loan system. Collaborate with relationship managers, closer and other LOB personnel to gather necessary information and resolve documentation, closing, boarding and funding. Prepare the funding of new and amended loan transactions, ensuring timely disbursement and adherence to approval conditions. Maintain detailed records and documentation in loan systems and databases. Offer support in the development and refinement of documentation procedures and best practices. Demonstrates foundational understanding of syndicated and participation loan structures and can perform basic operational task with guidance. Demonstrates strong organizational skills and multitasking proficiency. Adapts quickly to changing circumstances and implements effective solutions. Prepare outgoing wire transfers and OTEs (Online Transaction Entry) for loan fundings. Engage in pipeline, pre and closing calls. Acknowledge and pass along any deal attributes that are not supported by the servicing system or require significant workarounds or manual intervention. Support loan operations with the onboarding and funding preparation of new or amended attorney-prepared facilities. Review finance and GL balancing reports and complete any necessary follow-up actions. Ensure internal reporting is maintained accurately and provide ongoing support as needed. Use Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) methodology to improve processes when possible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of commercial loan administrative or operations experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience in the financial services industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Lean Six Sigma – Yellow Belt Certified.
