UPMC Presbyterian is seeking Central Sterile Processing Associates to support both our Presbyterian and Montefiore campuses. Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy trays
  • Strong focus, patience, and consistency for repetitive, detail-driven tasks
  • Flexibility to work rotating on-call, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • One of the following required: High school diploma/GED or equivalent with no experience Currently enrolled in an Accredited Surgical Technician/Sterile Processing Program 1 year of experience within UPMC
  • All staff must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis
  • Employees active in a Central Sterile position, on or before the effective date 12/27/2020, at a healthcare facility, are grandfathered regarding certification and will not need to obtain it unless they move into a different position that would require certification.
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification required for our PA and NY facilities.
  • New employees in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded) will have 18 months from date of hire to obtain required certification.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment
  • Assemble surgical trays with precision and attention to detail
  • Operate and monitor high-tech sterilization equipment
  • Maintain inventory and prepare case carts for upcoming surgeries
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure patient safety and surgical success
