About The Position

The Cellar Operator position oversees the daily operation of Cellar Equipment, strictly adhering to established work methods and safety protocols. The operator is also responsible for ensuring all processes consistently meet the highest quality standards, supporting an efficient, safe, and quality-driven production environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Minimum of 6 months of winery production experience
  • Must be able to work various shifts and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to operate machinery
  • Must know how to use hand tools
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Must be able to use D.O/O2 meters
  • Able to wear half and full-face respirator
  • Able to enter confine spaces to perform tasks
  • Computer skills/ down load of scanners
  • Must be flexible with scheduling and changing tasks due to business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certified operator with minimum of 2 years of experience; will work with two and four barrel racks and macro bins
  • Prior winery cellar experience (3 – 6 months)

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sanitizing Cellar fittings, hoses, fixed process lines, tanks, barrels, and grape and wine processing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of chemical additives and cleaners
  • Basic understanding of N2/CO2/Argon/ SO2
  • Wine movements – set-up and movement of wine and juice to and from tanks, barrels and tanker trucks.
  • Make additions to wine and juice after a confirmation of the calculations by a Cellar Supervisor or Manager.
  • Operates all types of pumps including centrifugal, positive displacement, air pumps and other Cellar equipment.
  • Measure and calculate routine workplace data.
  • Understand and be an active participant in the 5S program. (Sort, Set in order, Standardize, Sweep, and Sustain).
  • Responsible for compliance with CBI sustainability policies and practices which are economically viable, socially acceptable and environmentally sound. This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling, which are critical for our operations to achieve tangible environmental results.
  • Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety.
