About The Position

Thompson Engineering is seeking an experienced and driven Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Project Manager to lead and oversee transportation infrastructure projects in the Auburn, AL area. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of CEI services, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable standards and client expectations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in construction engineering and inspection, with a strong emphasis on transportation projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing CEI contracts for state DOT projects, preferably with ALDOT.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working directly with ALDOT CEI contracts.
• Certifications such as NICET, ACI, or other relevant construction inspection credentials.
• Experience with roadway, bridge, and infrastructure projects in the Southeast region.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee CEI projects from pre-construction through completion, with a focus on quality, safety, and compliance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, including state and local agencies.
• Supervise and mentor CEI staff, including inspectors, and administrative personnel.
• Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure accurate interpretation and execution.
• Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with design, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review daily reports, progress reports, change orders, and final documentation.
• Track project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve project issues and mitigate risks.
• Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client relationship management.
