Our Summer Internship Program is a paid, immersive 10-week experience designed to help you explore career paths while bringing your passions and fresh perspectives to work. This well-rounded program not only offers hands-on learning but also serves as a pipeline for future opportunities.   KCAL News gathers, plans, and airs content on the duopoly channels and streaming, 15+ hours a day.  The KCAL News team identifies stories, makes research and planning calls, helps identify video and sources related to every daypart and newscast. We plan segments, build newscast graphics and shoot, write and edit content for air.   This internship is 100% onsite at our Studio City location, flexible schedule needed. Interns are responsible to provide their own transportation to and from stories and events.

Requirements

  • Internships are available to students who will be Seniors or Master’s students in the fall of 2026. If you are a graduating Senior, please check our website for full-time job opportunities.
  • You must be available to intern full-time (5 days a week/36-40 hours a week) for 10 weeks total starting in June.
  • Interns will be required to work fully on-site for the duration of the program. Note: Paramount does not provide financial relocation support or housing stipends.
  • Internships are paid at a competitive standard hourly rate (school credit is optional).
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
  • Employment eligibility to work with Paramount in the United States is required as the company does not engage in sponsorship for internships.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the assignment desk in making calls, gathering and entering information on stories; working with the planning team to pitch and help book AM news segments as well as handle guests brought in for live interviews; working closely with the consumer reporter in gathering data and assisting in setting up interviews; aid special project producers in bringing content from idea to completion.
  • Assisting and shadowing producers/APs/writers in learning how to build a newscast and select stories; learning how to edit and write; observing booth operations during a live broadcast.
  • Assisting and shadowing reporters from story pitch to field to final product
