For more information on what we are about as a company, check us out by following the link below: http://www.levyrestaurants.com/who-we-are/ Job SummaryReporting directly to the Director of Catering, the Catering Supervisor position is responsible to oversee the set-up and breakdown for assigned catered events and to supervise the assigned staff, including servers, bartenders and barbacks. The Catering Supervisor is also responsible for following all processes and procedures and meeting the service expectations of the client and their guests.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure for extended periods while maintaining professionalism.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu items.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write in English to effectively communicate with guests.
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing 10-30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to perform production tasks, including constant reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Catering team during the set-up and break-down of events at the Field Museum.
  • Manage inventory of equipment, small wares, disposables, and beverages for museum events.
  • Coordinate the movement of beverages and equipment for all events at the museum.
  • Supervise Food and Beverage service, as well as event room set-up and clean-up.
  • Assist with the planning, organizing, and execution of events.
  • Greet clients and respond promptly to their requests.
  • Speak at roll call meetings before events to inform staff of event specifics and expectations.
  • Oversee general cleaning tasks using standard products, ensuring adherence to health standards.
  • Check with Facilities, Catering, and Culinary departments for any last-minute changes related to events.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Management.
