About The Position

The Catering & Group Sales Manager is responsible for driving local business development through prospecting, networking, and community engagement to generate new leads. This role manages the sales process from initial inquiry through execution, partnering with clients to plan and deliver successful events. Responsibilities also include securing small group room blocks (10–25 rooms peak night) and coordinating catering details for groups as assigned. The position focuses on developing new local catering and small group business, maintaining existing client relationships, and overseeing event planning details. Success in this role requires strong sales initiative, attention to detail, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2+ years of hospitality, catering, or sales experience preferred
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in or ability to quickly learn Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Delphi, and Opera
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Goal-oriented with a drive to exceed revenue targets
  • Outgoing and confident in representing the Resort at in-person networking events, community functions, and client engagements
  • Strong attention to detail and execution

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business and maintain repeat clients for local catering and small group segments (10–25 rooms and local events)
  • Proactively solicit new accounts through calls, appointments, networking, and community involvement
  • Conduct a minimum number of weekly sales activities (calls, appointments, site tours, client events) to grow market share
  • Identify and develop strategic local and regional accounts
  • Achieve revenue goals based on the conference center budget and group guestroom targets
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
  • Conduct presentations, site tours, and client meetings both on-site and off-site
  • Manage account follow-up, retention, and repeat business strategies
  • Negotiate and execute contracts for catering events, room blocks, and meeting space
  • Coordinate all event details and prepare banquet event orders.
  • Serve as primary point of contact from booking through event execution
  • Communicate all event details across resort departments to ensure seamless delivery
  • Support on-site event execution as needed to ensure client satisfaction
