About The Position

You will serve on a team whose job is to help Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort engage with all its audiences who want to create a memorable event at the Resort. You will contribute to the success of the Resort by soliciting, promoting, pricing, planning, and coordinating the complete details of all catering, banquet and event functions. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age (legal requirement to serve alcohol)
  • Ability to effectively communicate in the primary language(s) of customers and staff, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior sales experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and Micros (POS) systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Solicit and promote special event business through advertising, cold calling, contacting past customers, relationships with local businesses and other cost-effective activities.
  • Respond to all leads on a timely basis.
  • Negotiate final pricing, prepare contracts, and secure customer signatures.
  • Collect deposits and final payments as required before and after the event.
  • Document final arrangements with clients on function sheet. Obtain all specifications and pertinent information concerning the event, including but not limited to, number attending, schedule of events and menu.
  • Regularly review upcoming events function sheets and have thorough understanding of all requirements on upcoming scheduled events.
  • Continually strive to develop the Catering Coordinator in all areas of managerial and professional development.
  • Work diligently with the Food & Beverage department on the complete details of event, from contracting through the completion of the event.
  • Communicate with PD Security on gate entry needs. Provide Front Desk with event details to be reflected in Weekly Compass.
  • Complete site tours with potential clients as requested.
  • Provide food & beverage management and Banquet Captain with a copy of each function sheet (BEO) to gain a thorough understanding of event specifications prior to the function.
  • Requisition or obtain equipment needed for each event, ensuring that they meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Inspect event room prior to the start of each function – check room setup, menu, service staff, etc. conforms to function sheet (BEO).
  • Greet customers prior to the start of each function and be present until needed (varies per event).
  • Periodically check with customer to ensure satisfaction and respond to any requests.
  • Prepare and complete an accurate bill for the customer at the completion of the function and collect final payment. If another payment arrangement has been made, have the terms noted on the bill.
  • You will help live out our company’s Noble Purpose by ensuring that customer requirements and specs are adhered to and that functions run smoothly, efficiently, and profitably.
  • When interacting with each guest, leave them with a “WOW” story to tell about their experience.
  • Share customer impact stories with your team in meeting and management.
