Summary Typical shift may be variable depending on timing of event requests. Expect scheduled shifts to have varying start and end times. Most common time for events is late morning through early evening, but some early morning events too. The duty of a Catering Coordinator is to prepare a variety of food items for retail/board operation, catered events, special receptions, and other functions as requested by the Sous Chef and Executive Chef. The Sous Chef will have primary day-to-day supervision of the position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of progressively responsible related work experience in the restaurant, hospitality or other culinary environment or venue, or any combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the capability to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office).
  • Must be able to do simple arithmetic in all units of measure, using common fractions, whole numbers, and decimals. In fact, must be able to do simple mathematical calculation.
  • Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software.
  • Advanced Food Safety Certification from NEHA, AFS, or ServSafe (within 90 days of hire).
  • Department of Health Food Worker card issued by the State of Washington.
  • Washington State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational training courses in large-quantity cooking is strongly preferred.
  • Event planning and execution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure exemplary guest service for events.
  • Prepares a variety of food items for retail/board operation, catered events, special receptions, etc.
  • Garnishes and decorates food items and/or service lines for eye-appealing presentation of food.
  • Cleans kitchen and food storage areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Maintains all aspects of proper sanitation, health and safety standards for food storage, food preparation, and kitchen safety.
  • Operates mixers, ovens, choppers, shredders, steamers, grills, grinders, steam kettles, and other food preparation equipment.
  • Anticipates and performs preliminary preparation necessary for meals the following day.
  • Properly labels and stores food in refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms.
  • Operate organizational vehicle when needed.
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with staff, vendors, and the public to provide excellent value to all our customers.
  • Uses proper business conduct when dealing with suppliers and customers.
  • Tactfully coordinates needs and challenges with staff and supervisors.
  • As needed will answer phone, deliver food, go to the store, and assist in other areas of the department.
  • May perform other tray line or retail Cook duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a “clean as you go” workspace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
