Job Summary: The Category Manager, Capital Equipment, has responsibility for strategic category leadership and leading negotiations for Capital Equipment purchases for the entire organization. The Category Manager has the critical responsibility of managing business needs with internal partners to identify and manage a supply base to deliver value across all SBUs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in Procurement/Supply Chain.
  • Sourcing experience in the development and management of a global supply base is required
  • 5+ years of experience in Category Management
  • Demonstrated success includes supplier development across regions, responsibility for high-level negotiations, leading multi-functional projects
  • Strong analytics experience

  • Project Management – Collaborates with cross-functional leaders to align objectives, manages global project portfolio, oversees overall implementation.
  • Global Business Thinking/Strategizing - Demonstrates deep global knowledge of suppliers, industry trends, emerging markets, technology, geopolitical changes; drives this knowledge into short and long-term strategies.
  • Problem Solving - Understands customer expectations; keeps abreast of competitor/related industry problems; anticipate and avoid potential problems; supports team problem solving and corrective action plan implementation.
  • Relationship Management – Creates collaborative environment with cross-functional peers, assures regular/appropriate two-way communication flow, builds/maintains relationship with industry peers and supplier leaders, and reinforces lead on voice to the supply base.
  • Change Management – Develops and utilizes change management tools to educate business on key strategies and business objectives to support vision of indirect procurement.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Experience within indirect sourcing is preferred
  • Lean experience beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for strategy development, execution of Procurement processes and supplier relationship management
  • Develop & implement multi-year category strategies with goals to increase spend with preferred suppliers
  • Develop relationships and communication strategies with internal partners to identify business needs and align supply base to achieve strategic direction
  • Responsible for building and managing strategic supplier relationships through formal Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process to improve supplier performance metrics including quality, delivery, productivity, and innovation
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the sourcing process to ensure spend is awarded to provide the maximum value
  • Lead the development and negotiation of contracts through the contract lifecycle maximizing value while minimizing risk
  • Partner with Regional and Global Procurement teams to ensure delivery of productivity and cost avoidance
  • Ability to travel 10-15%
