About The Position

To provide equipment planning, sourcing and purchasing services for remodels, small and large construction projects, and the annual capital budget. Provides excellent customer service for capital projects within Intermountain Healthcare, and communicates and maintains equipment standardization criteria and lists. Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Brings assigned projects smoothly from planning to completion through coordination with the project team, facility administration, SCO team members and vendor representatives. Helps create existing equipment inventories, develops an equipment list, conducts user group meetings, provides “cut” sheet information, and furnishes equipment planning schedule based on the design and construction schedule. Develops and tracks project equipment budgets and report variances, conducts regular equipment meetings, and provides equipment procurement, delivery and installation schedules. Achieves an annual savings goal for under-dollar capital equipment, and when appropriate, leads the process to select and manage vendors, and maintain contractual and business relationships with the vendors. Supports the various sourcing teams in developing procurement strategies for Capital Equipment, and establishing and implementing the procurement strategy by working with the business owners (product selection), and vendors representatives (product availability). Drives continuous annual savings in capital equipment by working with business owners to ensure compliance to Intermountain’s standards and through the implementation of continuous saving ideas that will reduce Intermountain’s total cost of ownership for capital equipment.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following: Bachelor’s Degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified OR Five years’ experience in purchasing with two of these years being in in healthcare purchasing for clinical or highly technical service area.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, sound decision making ability, and have a diplomatic demeanor when interfacing with end-users.
  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of Materials Management Information System or ERP system and have a working knowledge of EDI, e-commerce, email and phone systems.
  • Demonstrates skills in leadership, strategic thinking and problem solving.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, customer relations, and communication skills.

  • Works with MMIT Specialist, Materials Specialist, and Accounts Payable to ensure system processing and product processing are done in an efficient manner and ensuring vendors are paid within the agreed terms
  • Updates the equipment database with relevant purchasing and sourcing information
  • Communicates and maintains equipment standardization information
  • Meets service level agreements and provides excellent customer service to all customers, and co-workers
