JOB PURPOSE: Provide support to students with questions in mathematics and/or statistics for the Center for Assistance with Statistics and Mathematics (CASM).

Requirements

• Education: Some college
• Experience:  Some college math/stat and/or tutoring experience
• Other requirements: Knowledge proficiency in mathematics up to Calculus II and/or Fundamentals of Statistics
• Must be a currently enrolled UW student.
• For math tutors successful completion of Calculus 1-3 with a B average or higher OR Calculus 1-2 with a B average or higher and prior tutoring experience.
• For stat tutors successful completion of Stat 2050 (Fundamentals of Statistics) or equivalent with a B or higher AND either additional statistics experience OR math and programing experience.

Responsibilities

• Tutor for Center for Assistance with Statistics and Mathematics (CASM), and, if assigned, tutor for STEP and/or STEP Satellite.
• As a tutor, primary job responsibilities will be addressing student questions regarding their math/stat courses.
• Tutors will be required to follow and enforce CASM policy and procedure, and if assigned to STEP or STEP Satellite, follow and enforce STEP policy and procedure.
• Tutors will need to have excellent time management skills.
• Tutors need to be excellent and flexible communicators via email, and in-person.
• New tutors are required to attend regular tutor content trainings.
• New tutors are required to attend CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) trainings unless they have a Level 1 certification.
