About The Position

Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi is seeking a qualified Case Worker for the Circles Program. The Case Worker is a leader whose primary role is to work within the Circles community, supporting Circles Leaders, Allies, and volunteers. The Case Worker is the person on whom participants and volunteers call when they have questions or concerns within the Circles community. The Case Worker has experience working with diverse socio-economic communities, a deep knowledge of poverty, skills in community organizing and volunteer management, and an awareness of the social service resources in the community. This is a part-time position. Ministerial Character: The Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (The Diocese) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of corpus Christi in both professional and personal life Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic church Continuously grows in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed Promote a supportive, inclusive, positive culture within the Circles community so all Circles Leaders, Allies, and other volunteers feel supported Maintain open and honest communication within the Circles community and work to mediate issues and resolve conflict when needed Work with the Recruitment Team to recruit participants Work with the Training Facilitator to oversee the training of participants and volunteers Help oversee the Training Facilitator Assist with interviews, selection and enrollment of Circle Leaders and Allies Runs the weekly Circles meetings Assists the Big View Team in coordinating the monthly Big View meetings Ensure confidentiality in all communications - both written and oral Assist with data collection and input of data into the Circles USA data system Report regularly to the chapter's Coordinator and complete additional tasks as assigned by the Coordinator Stay in contact with Circles USA for support and best practices Mental/Physical Demands: Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress Must maintain confidentiality of the department

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Ability to relate authentically and effectively with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to delegate tasks rather than "doing it all"
  • Ability to remain calm amidst stress or conflict and to mediate disagreements
  • Solid organizational skills to manage complex tasks with autonomy
  • Familiarity with available social services in the community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Circles community
  • Must successfully complete criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all diocesan policies and procedures
  • Ability to carry, pull, push, lift, or move objects 10 pounds or more
  • Ability to maintain composure under duress; maintain emotional control under stress
  • Must maintain confidentiality of the department

Responsibilities

  • Promote a supportive, inclusive, positive culture within the Circles community so all Circles Leaders, Allies, and other volunteers feel supported
  • Maintain open and honest communication within the Circles community and work to mediate issues and resolve conflict when needed
