In collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ), the Housing Works Justice Initiatives is launching a new pilot program, CREATE: Cannabis Reentry Education And Training Experience. This program is designed to provide individuals 21 years of age and older with previous justice-involvement with specialized classroom and on-the-job training to prepare individuals for a career in the newly emerging Cannabis Retail industry. It is an eight-week, paid training program that includes two-weeks of classroom training and six-weeks of on-the-job training in a designated NYC licensed cannabis dispensary. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Case Manager will be primarily responsible for engaging in outreach and recruitment activities, conducting program enrollment screenings and comprehensive intakes, develop and review service plans, assist with benefits and entitlements enrollment and connecting individuals to internal and external wraparound support and healthcare services. Candidates for the Case Manager position will ideally have experience working with individuals, or communities, impacted by the criminal legal system, knowledge of the retail or cannabis industry, skilled in providing care coordination services and a passion for participating in the development of this newly emerging sector.
