Position: Case Manager - Youth Supervised by: Program Manager & Director of Programs Department: Housing Stability Classification: Part-Time 20 hours per week Position Status: Non-Exempt Location: Pendleton Main Office Wage: $23.17/hourly Benefits: Life Insurance, 401K Plan, FSA, Sick Leave POSITION OVERVIEW: Work with the Department of Human Services and foster families to assist youth who are or were in foster care to become self-sufficient. Assess the participants needs and develop and maintain a transition plan for each youth. Conduct meetings and provide supportive wrap around services that will assist the youth to achieve goals for self-sufficiency. Facilitate life skills classes and provide coaching on topics including, but not limited to, the provision of money management, household maintenance, cooking, transportation, health, community resources, housing options, personal hygiene, and employment readiness. The position will also attend overnight camps with youth in accommodations that can include dorms and cabins.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in related field, which can be substituted for three years of comparable experience working with youth, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability and dedication to learn new skills quickly, keep up to date with program information, and apply new knowledge to your job
  • Good decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze information and implement the best solution to solve problems or challenges
  • Computer experience and typing skills; have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must pass a criminal history background investigation; however, a conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from this position.
  • CAPECO is a drug free workplace and pre-employment drug screening will be required. Due to federal funding, our drug screenings include the use of marijuana.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Drivers License and insurable driving record is required.
  • Travel required within the service area.
  • Occasional out of town or overnight travel.
  • Travel may require the use of a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial client assessments of skill levels, aptitudes, abilities, and service needs.
  • Develop and maintain transition plan with youth.
  • Meet with youth and/or foster families at least monthly depending on need to provide assistance with goals.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching on various life skills.
  • Assist youth with education, training, and housing grants.
  • Facilitate group orientations/trainings/classes that encourage independence.
  • Develop work experience job sites.
  • Requires completion of extensive paperwork, including but not limited to monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices and reports.
  • Complete required forms and maintain participant files.
  • Enter participant data into a database system.
  • Participate in local and statewide meetings and training as necessary and report back to management.
  • Position requires flexible time, some evenings and weekends are required
  • Overnight travel and oversight of youth participants while at youth camps. Conditions at camps vary from staying in dorms to cabins.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
