About The Position

SUMMARY: The CAS Operator is responsible for performing daily inspections of all equipment located in the CAS department. The Operator will maintain a consistent flow; auditing and adjusting all machines in the CAS department while following animal welfare guidelines External Requirement: 3 months cumulative work history, Operator experience preferred Rehire Consideration: Max of two (2) previous Tyson Employments to be considered for hire. 90 days (3 months) waiting period . ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate the Controlled Atmosphere Stunning equipment according to Animal Welfare Standards. Audit and adjust all machines in the CAS department from the Bright Coop through the Kill Machine which includes the Blood Pumps. Make adjustments as needed to ensure the optimum performance Communicate with Maintenance on equipment issues affecting the CAS Be proficient at start up and shut down duties Other duties as assigned including Live Hanging as needed QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively Must adhere to CAS Department Animal Welfare Standards and practices Must be able to work independently and make decisions Excellent attention to detail Highly motivated self-starter Willingness to learn new ideas Willingness to assist in other areas of production and work overtime as required Physical Requirements / Environment: Rarely (0-1 hrs.): climb or work at protected heights (steps to work area), kneel, crawl or balance Occasionally (1-3 hrs.): lift/carry (up to 45 lbs.), push/pull (up to 100 lbs.) Frequently (3-6 hrs.): lift/carry and push/pull (up to 10 lbs.), squat, simple/firm grasping, reaching at shoulder height or slightly above at a rate of 23-25 birds per minute if hanging Continuously (6-8 hrs.): stand/walk, simple/firm grasping, fine manipulation/operating controls, bend/stoop, twist/turn, work around moving machinery, exposed to marked changes in temperature, around and amongst poultry dust, odor and blood, talk and hear, use 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses
