Facilities Management (FM) is offering an exciting opportunity for a Carpenter Supervisor to support the department’s goal of delivering consistent, cost-effective, and reliable carpentry services within the University’s Central Grounds Zone. This position supports both historic and modern facilities, including Thomas Jefferson’s Academical Village—a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring the Rotunda, Pavilions, and Lawn and Range student rooms—as well as contemporary academic buildings. Carpenter Supervisors are responsible for coordinating and overseeing a wide range of carpentry and painting activities, including repairs, renovations, and installations. The role emphasizes maintaining the structural integrity, functionality, and appearance of University facilities. Special attention is given to historic structures to ensure all work complies with established historic preservation standards, while also meeting the operational needs of modern buildings. This position plays a critical role in scheduling and coordinating maintenance projects, inspections, and repairs. The Supervisor ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality, supporting the University community by combining traditional carpentry expertise with modern maintenance practices to enhance and preserve the University facilities.
