About The Position

The Career Preparation Period (CPP) Instructor is responsible for providing instruction and training to students during the Career Preparation Program. This includes developing Individual Achievement Plans, evaluating student progress to ensure early retention and success, conducting effective classroom instruction, and evaluating student performance. The instructor ensures the Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals, provides remedial support, and assesses students' readiness to transition to the Career Development Period (CDP). The role also involves providing comprehensive and individualized case management, establishing supportive/mentoring relationships, offering personal and career counseling, and routinely documenting student performance. Additionally, the instructor coordinates pre-arrival activities for new students, ensuring a smooth transition to Center life.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must possess a valid in-state Driver’s License and meet the Company insurability requirements

Nice To Haves

  • A degree from an accredited school preferred
  • Previous group facilitation, teaching or Job Corps experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Providing instruction and training to students during the Career Preparation Program
  • Developing Individual Achievement Plans
  • Evaluating Progress to Ensure Student Early Retention and Success in the Program
  • Following all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensuring no manipulation of student data
  • Conducting effective classroom instruction and evaluating student performance
  • Ensuring Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals
  • Providing remedial support and guidance for students to successfully complete the CPP requirements
  • Evaluating and assessing students’ readiness to transition to CDP
  • Providing students with comprehensive and individualized case management ensuring student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program
  • Establishing supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment and providing personal and career counseling
  • Routinely evaluating and documenting student performance using the case management system
  • Coordinating pre-arrival activities to ensure effective transition to Center life including pre-arrival phone calls, transportation to Center, CPP welcome celebration, folder review, needs assessment, introduction to Center staff and tour of the Center
  • Ensuring that area is organized, clean, safe and conducive to student/staff success
  • Producing quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner
  • Maintaining appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards
  • Planning, prioritizing and organizing assignments to meet established goals and deadlines
  • Understanding and applying job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities
  • Proactively maintaining the skills required to perform job duties
  • Mentoring, monitoring and modeling the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH
  • Providing high-quality supervision and management for the student population
  • Taking swift and appropriate action and positively influencing student behavior
  • Showing respect and courtesy to students and holding them accountable for their actions and behavior
  • Providing quality programs and services for students and ensuring that quality is maintained and student needs are met
  • Pursuing improvement and enhancement of programs and services
  • Exchanging ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributing meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge
  • Providing quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested
  • Effectively articulating thoughts and ideas
  • Identifying problems, analyzing causes and evaluating appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions
  • Following up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected
  • Working in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students
  • Accepting direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions
  • Other duties as assigned
