The Bizzell-Group: New Haven Job Corps is a career training center dedicated to empowering young adults through education, hands-on experience, and personal development. Our program provides a supportive environment where students can gain the skills, certifications, and confidence needed to pursue rewarding careers. With a focus on both academic achievement and practical training, we partner with local employers and community organizations to ensure our graduates are prepared to meet the demands of today’s workforce. The Career Preparation Instructor will acquaint new students with center systems, behavioral standards, benefits, rules, and procedures to enable them to participate successfully in the program. They will offer instruction in Career Preparation covering safety, security, systems, Job Corps history, diversity, technology, internet job search skills, resume writing, email use, worker's rights and responsibilities, job retention, customer service, conflict resolution, and driver's education. The instructor will also monitor, encourage, support, and enforce center attendance rules, provide an introduction to Career Success Standards, and assist in developing and distributing a Student Handbook. Key responsibilities include coordinating student assessments, developing career exploration activities, providing overviews of career technical offerings, and scheduling visits to One-Stop Career Centers. The instructor will collaborate with students and counselors to initiate and update Personal Career Development Plans (PCDPs), participate in Career Management Team (CMT) panels, and assist students in preparing for career transition through seminars, document assembly, and job development/placement services. They will also conduct transitional needs assessments and post-center follow-up, ensure student safety and health, serve on committees, and transport students when necessary.
