About The Position

Avista is a person-centred, rights-based organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with disabilities. They provide Day, Residential, and Respite supports across Dublin, Limerick, and North Tipperary. Avista is seeking candidates committed to supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities and their families in a person-centred, community-based, socially inclusive manner, in line with their core values and ethos. This specific position is for a Care Assistant at San Joseph Children Respite Services in Limerick, offered as a permanent part-time contract for 30 hours per week.

Requirements

Minimum of Fully Completed FETAC/QQI level 5 in Healthcare qualification or (higher) equivalent comparable qualification
Full clean manual Irish driving licence
Proficiency in the English language
Experience working with children who have a disability and their families

Nice To Haves

Experience working within the area of intellectual disability and of working with children who have a diagnosis of Autism and Behaviours of Concern
Desire to support people to live their best lives and commitment to promoting the active engagement and participation of children in their local communities
Willingness to support children to develop skills and competencies around identified goals and areas of interest and learning
Possess Level 1 behavioural competencies of Avista competency framework
