About The Position

The Cardiac Monitoring Technician is responsible for providing continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring to hospitalized patients in an acute care setting. This role plays a critical part in patient safety by accurately interpreting ECG rhythms, identifying life-threatening arrhythmias, and communicating findings promptly to the clinical care team.

Requirements

  • Strong ECG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
  • Excellent communication and critical-thinking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including MS Office Suite
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in emergency situations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • AHA Telemetry Technician Certificate
  • Completion of a Dysrhythmia Course

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous ECG and telemetry monitoring
  • Analyze ECG strips and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
  • Identify abnormal or life-threatening rhythm changes and immediately notify appropriate clinical staff
  • Initiate and assist during code situations, including accurate rhythm documentation
  • Perform EKGs with correct electrode placement across multiple clinical settings
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to monitor alarms
  • Troubleshoot telemetry and monitoring equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Enter and verify orders in electronic systems
  • Retrieve laboratory results and report findings to the charge nurse as needed
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards
  • Safely operate and manage cardiac monitoring and related medical equipment
