About The Position

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and accurate interpretation of ECG rhythms to support patient safety and clinical decision-making. This role requires strong attention to detail, rapid recognition of rhythm abnormalities, and effective communication with the clinical care team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and multitasking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) – must be current or obtained within one year
  • Telemetry Technician Certification required
  • Completion of a Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course required

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous ECG monitoring and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
  • Analyze ECG strips, identify abnormal or life-threatening rhythms, and immediately notify appropriate clinical staff
  • Initiate and assist during emergency situations, including code responses and rhythm documentation
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) with correct electrode placement in various clinical settings
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain telemetry and cardiac monitoring equipment
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to monitor alarms
  • Communicate clearly with nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Enter, verify, and manage orders within the electronic system
  • Retrieve and report laboratory results to the appropriate clinical staff in a timely manner
  • Ensure documentation meets organizational policies and regulatory standards
  • Safely operate and manage monitoring and related medical equipment
