About The Position

Mercyhealth is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiology team in Janesville, Wisconsin. Opportunity: Join a robust and ever evolving Electrophysiologist with advanced practice providers, specializing in cardiac devices, heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms. Coverage will include hospital and main clinic. You will enjoy an outstanding referral system from 2-primary care satellite clinics. Mercyhealth is a multi-regional, integrated health system comprising five hospitals, more than 600 employed physicians, over 80 outpatient clinics and other service sites that provide care to residents in more than 60 communities throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. We provide over 75 specialty and sub-specialty services, including neurosurgery, heart and vascular care, cancer care, plastic and reconstructive surgery, da Vinci robotic surgery and much more. Qualifications: Ability to work well independently and under pressure. Strong communication/interpretive and analytical skills. A high level of independent judgment and ability to handle empowerment for independent action. Ability to pass the Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and/or Illinois Health Care Worker's Background Check. Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited MSN program Current WI RN license Current APNP Current DEA number ATLS certification Other certifications as required. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited MSN program
  • Current WI RN license
  • Current APNP
  • Current DEA number
  • ATLS certification
  • Other certifications as required.
  • Meets the requirements determined by the State of Wisconsin or Illinois to perform duties defined as those of a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Specialty, based on area of practice, experience required
  • Valid APNP license in state of practice
  • Valid state RN license in state of practice
  • DEA authorization as needed
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days. Other Certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP
  • The employee is required to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, handle, finger, feel talk and hear and use near acuity and color vision. The employee is occasionally required to stoop.

Responsibilities

  • Performs physical examinations, may perform specialty procedures and provide follow up care of the patient.
  • Performs preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of the physician.
  • Explains and provides specialized education to the patient care.
  • Provides answers to any questions a patient might have.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
  • Credentialed to sedate, circulate and scrub electrophysiology procedures under the direction of the physician, as needed by specialty clinic.
  • Discusses and collaborates care of the patient with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Has a high level of decision-making skills and autonomy.
  • Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
