About The Position

Fairchild Freight is a rapidly growing multi-modal logistics company specializing in the transportation of high-value, time-sensitive perishables and general commodities throughout North America. Our over-the-road and regionally focused dedicated platforms service the lower 48 states, Western Canada, and Alaska. We're looking for an experienced Capacity Manager to join our operations team in Farmers Branch, TX. In this role, you will manage the carrier side of the freight cycle; sourcing and booking capacity, negotiating rates, maintaining carrier relationships, and ensuring strong on-time performance. This position is ideal for someone with brokerage or transportation operations experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys negotiation, relationship-building, and execution.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in logistics, freight brokerage, 3PL, carrier operations, or transportation sales
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage carrier pricing
  • Excellent communication skills (phone, email, and internal coordination)
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
  • High accountability and follow-through

  • Experience with tracking/visibility tools such as MacroPoint, FourKites, One Network, or similar
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with KPIs (margin, service, load coverage, etc.)
  • Knowledge of tracking software such as Truckstop, DAT, Macro Point, Fourkites, One Network, etc

Responsibilities

  • Source and onboard new carriers through outbound calls, load boards, and lead generation
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with an established carrier base
  • Cover assigned loads using preferred carriers, phone solicitation, and load boards
  • Negotiate rates while balancing profitability, service, and market conditions
  • Enter and schedule loads accurately in the freight management system
  • Track loads through delivery and ensure timely updates are communicated internally
  • Maintain 98% on-time service performance through proactive execution
  • Ensure detention and accessorial charges are properly documented for invoicing
  • Monitor transportation market trends and adjust carrier strategy as needed
  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, including Logistics Coordinators and Account Managers
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support profitable growth
