About The Position

The Capacity Management Analyst – SAMER contributes to the tactical and analytical management of capacity on Atlas Air’s scheduled freighter services between Miami and South American destinations. This role coordinates optimal utilization of available pallet positions and ULD space, maps out the transshipment of Asia-origin cargo through Miami, and balances commercial yield objectives with operational reliability. The analyst is a key contributor to the hub’s flow control, ensuring that connecting cargo from Asia is efficiently transferred onto southbound flights while assisting in optimizing allocations, maximizing revenue, minimizing voids, and supporting Atlas Air’s service commitments and customer contracts.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years’ experience in air cargo operations, capacity or yield management.
  • Understanding of air cargo flows between Asia, North America, and South America, including interline and transshipment handling.
  • Familiarity with cargo operational and information systems (CargoSpot, AIMS, Hawk, or similar) and intermediate Excel/data analysis.
  • Demonstrated analytical judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated Effective communicator across regional teams, able to balance commercial and operational priorities.
  • Flexible to support extended hours or rotating shifts in a 24/7 cargo environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with belly cargo/freighter operations into South America (e.g., Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru).
  • Background/knowledge in performance reporting, or predictive analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring all Miami flights to/from South America (SAMER) and connecting partner operations to contribute to connection integrity and on-time performance.
  • Track inbound Atlas or partner flights from Asia carrying cargo transshipping in Miami for South America-bound connections, promote clear visibility of transfer timing, documentation, and build-up sequencing.
  • Identify potential misconnects or disruptions; analyze and map out plans on whether to hold, rebook, or reroute shipments based on service commitments and revenue potential.
  • Coordinate, communicate and respond to the Ground Operations team, Sales team, and station staff to ensure real-time load adjustments are accurately executed.
  • Serve as a liaison between local cargo sales team and ground handling agents to facilitate late inflow of standby cargo for filling voids.
  • Monitor load factors and allocations using internal and external data sources and dashboards, to ensure maximization of utilization of aircraft capacity – optimal volume/density mix.
  • Produce analysis to support capacity management recommendations to optimize load/yield/volume and prioritize cargo, Tactically plan pallet position and ULD utilization for Miami–SAMER flights, identifying underused positions and backfill opportunities.
  • Produce daily flight utilization dashboards/reports for South America network, highlighting load factors, offload causes, voids, and yield performance.
  • Generate transshipment reports for Asia–Miami–SAMER traffic, tracking volumes, connection rates, and missed opportunities.
  • Liaise and coordinate between Network Planning, Sales, and Ground Operations, and Station Atlas reps/Ground Handling Agents to ensure alignment on capacity management, space allocation and pallet build-up issues.
  • Awareness and monitoring of Block Space Agreements (BSAs) and high-priority customer commitments for Miami–SAMER vv markets.
  • Work on tasks at each point of the lifecycle of transshipment cargo connecting in Miami, ensuring transfer of Asia-origin ULDs onto southbound flights.
  • Utilize AIMS, Hawk, and other systems to track inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring transfer information (pallet position, routing, and priority) is received prior to departure.
  • Work closely with Atlas Air’s Asia-origin stations, Miami ground handling teams, and South America destination stations to minimize dwell time and maximize connection success.
  • Implement process improvements that enhance the reliability and predictability of Miami Hub Transshipment Operations.
  • Participate in predictive and data-driven capacity planning initiatives to improve load factors, revenue yield, and service reliability.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis of misconnects, underloads, or delayed transshipments and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist implementation of standardized capacity management processes and tools specific to the Miami gateway.
