About The Position

The primary duty of the Network Analyst is application of system analyst techniques and procedures including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional applications. To design, develop, document, analyze, create, test, and modify network and computer systems for CTC. Oversee network outages and take appropriate measures to ensure the outage does not repeat. Maintains and troubleshoots voice services in Class V and wholesale switching. Monitors Class V and wholesale switching alarm reporting and responds accordingly. Monitors the quality of service, EAS, special circuits and other subscriber carrier services. Reports To: Network Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Requirements In addition to the above, this position will perform other work related duties as assigned. These tasks do not meet the Americans With Disabilities Act definition of essential job functions and are usually less than 5% of time spent. However, these tasks still constitute important performance aspects of the job. Job Family: This position has four distinct levels within the family of positions. These levels include Lead Network Analyst, Network Analyst III, Network Analyst II, Network Analyst I. All levels of this job family will be cross-trained and work as a team to service the responsibilities placed on the group in its entirety. Network Analyst Lead: This position will perform at the highest level of the job family and will oversee the Network Analyst III, II and I day-to-day functions. The Network Analyst III, II and I will report to the Network Analyst Lead on any network design or implementation discussions; all network development and all network maintenance's that need to be completed or scheduled. New or ongoing projects will be assigned to Network Analyst III, II and I by the Network Analyst Lead. The Network Analyst Lead will maintain a high level of communication on a daily basis and will meet with the Network Manager weekly to discuss all network design, implementation, maintenance's and any new or ongoing projects for approval before implementation. The Network Analyst Lead will perform Network Analyst III functions in addition to the Lead job requirements. Network Analyst III: This position serves as an experienced Network Analyst. The Network Analyst III position will focus on the design and deployment of the overall network infrastructure and services. Network Analyst II: This position will be a liaison between design/project activity and daily support needed to maintain the network and customer issues. The responsibility to oversee the daily support and make sure that all items are addressed and resolved also falls on this position. Network Analyst I: This position will support the day-to-day escalation requests to the department and provide feedback into the design and provisioning process. Supervision Received: The Network Analyst Lead works under the direction of the Network Manager and/or Senior Management. Supervision Exercised: None.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer operating systems.
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft Windows versions.
  • Linux/Unix knowledge would be beneficial, but not required.

  • Network Analyst I – A.A. or technical certificate in computer science or equivalent. Three or more years of experience and/or education.
  • Telecommunications experience is desired but not required.
  • Valid Minnesota drivers’ license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Network Design & Maintenance 30%
  • Designs, maintains, troubleshoots and implements network to support current and future service needs.
  • Designs, implements, maintains, and upgrades planning of the CTC network infrastructure and internet related services and systems.
  • Maintains communications with all levels of CTC as to the needs and status of the CTC network systems.
  • Supervision of network equipment physical organization.
  • Maintain and manage corporate servers and any servers necessary to the operation of the Network and network services.
  • Maintains network systems in a data center environment including software voice switching.
  • Monitors circuit connectivity to ensure the highest quality of services are provided for all voice related services.
  • Network Security & Reliability 25%
  • While performing all job functions Network Analysts must continually use their best discretion in order to protect the integrity of all CTC data servers, routers, authentication systems, software and other data systems.
  • Designs, tests, and implements best practices security procedures.
  • Designs, implements, and updates recovery plan and practices.
  • Design, manage and maintain backups for Network infrastructure and servers.
  • Develops procedures for adding and supporting internal and external users.
  • Network Upgrades 20%
  • Research, develop and test all maintenance, software, hardware, and upgrades for network systems.
  • Researching, designing, developing, and testing all maintenance, software, hardware, and upgrades for video systems.
  • Technical Support 15%
  • Supports internal staff and customers issues through appropriate escalations, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Supports corporate users with their equipment, network, wireless phones and communication devices. Provides technical support to both internal and external users as needed.
  • Other Responsibilities 10%
  • Due to rapid changes and advances in the data industry, Network Analyst I must continually keep abreast of new programming, training, consulting methods and technologies.
  • Prepares appropriate regulatory files and records.
  • Participation in any additional job-related training offered by the company when available.
  • Mentoring and training of other employees within and outside of job family to ensure cross training is established.
